Setting the Stage Aglow
For Sarah McLachlan’s Fumbling Towards Ecstasy tour, we teamed up with production manager Ryan Kell to create a stunning candle installation atop the piano. The challenge? These flickering beauties needed to be hardwired with DMX and power, rugged enough to endure a full year of touring, and effortless to set up and break down after each show. In other words, they had to look delicate while being built like a tank.
Flickering with Finesse
To ensure maximum control and realism, each candle was independently powered by two lighting channels—Amber and Tungsten. This setup allowed the control board to fine-tune the flicker effect, creating a warm, organic glow that felt truly alive. The end result? A stage bathed in elegant, dynamic candlelight—without the fire hazard or the headache of constant resets.
