Breathing New Light into Old Tech
We often collaborate with prop and set departments to transform vintage finds into fully functional, film-ready lighting. This time, the challenge was an antique projector lamp—beautiful in design but lacking the brightness, control, and precision needed for modern production. Our goal? To keep its classic charm while giving it a serious performance upgrade.
Old-School Looks, High-Tech Core
To bring the lamp up to spec, we completely rebuilt its interior, swapping out the old light source for a high-powered 5600K COB. This upgrade delivered a much brighter output while maintaining a natural daylight balance. To ensure seamless integration with modern lighting setups, we added DMX control and a continuous current supply, allowing for smooth dimming and reliable performance on set.
A Beam of Perfection
One of the key requirements was achieving a crisp, circular beam with razor-sharp edges. We tackled this by installing a new heat-resistant glass optic stack, carefully designed to project the perfect circle. The result? A vintage projector that not only looks the part but performs like a cutting-edge lighting tool—blending nostalgia with modern efficiency.
